What the Pink Dot means, and what it does not mean.
Credibility is the product. Pink Dot should be clear, conservative, site-specific, locally compliant, and designed to avoid overclaiming.
Pink Dot means
- The item, component, bag, or stream is approved for a participating-site carbon recovery system.
- The material should be collected separately where Pink Dot labels, bags, bins, or signage are present.
- The site has approved the material class, collection method, and downstream pathway.
- The material is intended for managed recovery, not uncontrolled disposal.
Pink Dot does not automatically mean
- Recyclable everywhere
- Compostable everywhere
- Accepted by every organics facility
- Carbon removal by itself
- Compatible with every conversion technology
- Eligible for credits without verified downstream MRV
Required disclaimer
Pink Dot approval depends on participating-site rules, local ordinances, food donation and health requirements, material compatibility, downstream recovery infrastructure, contamination limits, product specifications, and verified carbon accounting where CDR claims are made.
